Mosca Malaysia: Energy Monitoring & Monthly Reporting
Mosca's state-of-the-art strapping facility in Ulu Tiram, Johor uses CobiNeural for real-time energy monitoring, faster monthly reporting, and plant-floor anomaly detection.

About Mosca
Mosca is a German manufacturer of packaging solutions with nearly 60 years in strapping machines, stretch-wrapping equipment, and strapping materials. Its Malaysian arm, Maschinenfabrik Gerd Mosca (MGM) Sdn. Bhd., has operated since 2009 and commissioned a state-of-the-art expanded facility in Ulu Tiram, Johor in June 2025 to serve the Asia-Pacific region. The site runs on Mosca's "Nonstop Performance" philosophy: continuous, dependable production for customers who cannot afford a packaging line that stops.
A strapping and packaging plant carries the energy profile you would expect from light-to-medium discrete manufacturing. Motors, compressors, extrusion and assembly lines, plus the building services that keep the floor running. None of that load is exotic, which is exactly why it is easy to leave unmonitored until the utility bill makes the case for you.
The challenge: a nonstop plant needs nonstop visibility
A plant built for nonstop output needs nonstop visibility into how it uses energy. Two jobs are hard to do well from a monthly TNB bill alone.
The first is producing a clear, repeatable monthly energy report. Pulling figures together by hand is slow, error-prone, and stale by the time it lands on someone's desk. For a manufacturer that wants to track consumption trends and stay ready for EECA and ISO 50001 expectations, a spreadsheet rebuilt every month is a liability, not a record.
The second is catching abnormal behaviour as it happens. A motor drawing more than it should, an asset left running outside its schedule, a load that creeps upward week over week. On the floor these are invisible. On the bill they show up a month late, already paid for. The gap between "something looks off" and "someone noticed" is where avoidable cost lives.
The solution: CobiNeural as an overlay on the existing plant
Mosca uses CobiNeural, Cobler's Smart Operation Platform, for real-time energy monitoring across the plant. Because CobiNeural overlays the plant's existing systems rather than replacing them, Mosca gained this visibility without ripping out working infrastructure or interrupting a production line built to never stop.
Three CobiNeural capabilities map directly to the site's needs:
- Insights to Energy gives the team consumption, demand, and trend visibility at site and equipment level. Instead of one number on a bill, the energy and operations team sees where kWh are actually going across the floor.
- Insights to Equipment pushes that visibility down to individual assets, so an unusual draw or off-schedule run can be traced to the machine causing it rather than guessed at.
- Alerts turn those patterns into action. When consumption deviates or an asset runs when it should not, the platform notifies the team so they can check it the same day, not the next billing cycle.
On the reporting side, CobiNeural's Reporting module produces consistent monthly energy reports built from live data. The energy team reviews and shares them instead of assembling them, which removes the manual compilation step that made monthly reporting a chore.
The result
The team now has continuous insight into plant energy use, monthly reporting that takes far less effort, and a much shorter path from "something looks off" to "we've checked it." For a site built around nonstop, dependable performance, that visibility is part of keeping the line running, not a separate compliance task bolted on afterward.
